Phoenix Fun!

Our latest adventure involved a family trip to Phoenix. Jim was there for a tournament so we decided to pack up the boys and head to Phoenix for the week. We stayed with some wonderful friends of Jim who were so sweet to let us come and terrorize them, their house and their dog. They live in a very remote part of Phoenix, so the kids had a blast playing in the desert dirt, roasting marshmallows in their fire pit, listening to the coyotes at night, and touring their amazing motorhome, "The Bus." Not far from their house was an amazing park that we visited nearly every day. The kids watched "the big boys" play hockey and skateboard, rode their scooters like crazy, rode the train, fed the ducks, and played at every play area the park had to offer. They chose to have a slumber party each night and sleep together on the floor. One of the highlights for me was listening to them carry on each night, having toddler conversations that went on and on and on. Thank you Ryan, Shana and Callie for a wonderful time!

The kids and I met Jim in San Diego for the weekend to spend some time with both him and his brother and sisters. We had hoped to go to the San Diego Zoo, but the weather did not cooperate. So, we moved the party indoors and let the kids bowl. William, Mimi, Jack and Charlie have lots of experience in this department as we use the local bowling alleys as a refuge during the hot summer months. We had a wonderful time catching up with family and watching all of the cousins play together. Hope to get everyone together again soon!

Jack discovers love of grapefruit...

Posted by Picasa
I hadn't thought to offer the boys grapefruit simply because they don't seem to be a "kid-friendly" food, but when Jack asked for a taste of mine, I figured why not? With much concentration and determination, he powered through one entire grapefruit before asking for another one! I guess I shouldn't be too shocked; this is also the child who, when asked to try a mini corn dog, replied "Actually, mom, I just want mushrooms and soymilk." What?!?
